Tras-os-Montes

Trás-os-Montes literally means 'behind the mountains', and that is exactly how it feels: a remote, sparsely populated region in the far northeast, high up, with cold winters and hot summers. Little wine is made there and even less is exported. What you find comes from old field blends where ten or more grape varieties grow side by side — a way of working that has disappeared almost everywhere. From us, from Menina d'Uva: three wines, and that is not a shortage but a choice.
